How do I slow down Marineland Magnum flow?

How would I go about slowing the flow of my marineland magnum internal polishing and canister filter. It goes all the way across my 4 ft. tank with a extremely high flow. And I can't get the flow direction adjuster to stay on.

Hey there,
If it is not adjustable (pity isn't it), simply direct the water outletpipe to a glass.

I can't keep the direction flow pipe on, it falls off whenever I put it on.

The flow director is the thing with the white little circle on it.
