I'm getting a new female for my male convict who lost his partner a month ago. They're an aggressive species and if they don't get on could kill or seriously injure each other
Need temporary tank divider when I first introduce them to each other until I know whether they are in love or planning to kill each other. Most of the DIY tank dividers on this forum (and for sale on Ebay) are flimsy structures designed to separate small betta.

Need some advice and ideas:
1. What material will be strong enough to withstand attack from one (maybe 2) aggressive 3.5inch cichlids
2. How do I fix the divider securely to tank sides. i don't think those suction cups will be strong enough to make the barrier cichlid proof.

what size is your tank? i have a plastic divider and it worked great with 2 convicts and a salvini in a 55 gallon tank. You dont need anything too hefty, im sure the online dividers are fine. good luck.

id use glass and underwater silicone it to the glass then scrape off the sillicone

agree, then at least you can relax without the thought of them knocking it over
