How Do I Convert Ppm Hardness To Degress?

Hi All, I bought these Test Strips on e-bay as they appeared to be a bargain (50 for the price of 25!!!) but the GH and KH are in PPM, how do you convert ppm of hardness to degress?.

Or what are decent PPM readings for hardness??.

Thanks

Lol i thought you had bought my 50 test strips i have on ebay for a minute! To be honest they arent much good which is why ive sold mine and got an API master test kit. I paid the same for both and the API kit gives 800 tests!

To give dGH or dKH divide ppm by 17.9.

Its a bit tricky to answer
Or what are decent PPM readings for hardness??.
as the hardness of the tank water should match that of the fish you want to keep and depends very much on your tap water hardness.

Cheers guy's.

I'll have a crack at that tonight, the readings I got last time are odd, the container says it is in ppm as does the listing, but then in the leaflet is says its in degrees (the readings are 14 and 18!!!), however if thats the case my water hardness is through the roof, which is odd as everything is healthy, the PH is fine (from the strip, drop checker and PH test kit) and I currently have a snail prob which I assume would lower hardness as they build their shells????.

I't may well be that I have wasted my money!!!.

That said the PH and Nitrate etc does appear to work so it's not a total loss.

GH 14 is fine, most fish these days, even the more sensitive ones, are able to tolerate a wide range of water hardness, the stuff you have it probably just adapted to it which is why its all healthy :)
