Hi All,

Does anyone know how I can clean off the very hard white gunge that develops above the water level especially where the ait bubbles come up?

Is there any good chemicals that can be used or should i resort to a wall paper scraper lol.

Thanks.

if it's calcuim deposits on glass your on about i use a draper window scraper to do that. it's a plastic handle which takes a stanley blade.

if it's the plastic around the top of your juwel a scrubby pad!.

It's on plastic. Scrubby pads don't make a dent in it.

Maybe try soaking a rag in white vinegar, wring it until damp and try wiping down the area you want to clean. It's going to take some patience and a lot of elbow grease though. If possible, leave the soaking rag on the canopy or area of the bracing for 10 minutes before you start scrubbing. If it's against a side of the tank though, that wouldn't be an option.

Unless it's a really small tank, a few drops of vinegar shouldn't have too much impact on your water chemistry, so don't worry about your fish.

I agree with the vinegar and patience. Just keep it out of the water although a drop or 2 won’t hurt.
