How did I get ICH???

My big black lyretail female has little white spots, like grains of salt all over her. Sounds like ich right? Well, I thought it was odd since my tank is semi-brackish! Doesnt salt usually keep ICH away?

Have you added the water back to the tank at the correct tempreture, make sure your heater is working, have you added any new fish lately.

Yea, I added new fish...but wouldnt the ick kill the ich before it spread? The temp is a steady 78F.

The Ick parrasite is alway in you tank, it normaly stress or water conditions.

Salt just irratates the slime coat, and build up a thicker layer of resistance, does'nt acherly treat or cure anything.

No, my tank was healthy. I added some guppies and Bumblebee Gobies, all of which I bought from a private pet store who never has issues with ick. The owner is very knowledgable with fish.

Ich is caused by stress. As stated by wilder its in the water and we will all get it sometime. Just have the medcine on hand and you should be safe.
