How can you tell if a black crowntail

I just thought of something -
if my new guy were to get finrot, how would I know?
he's already black, and he's already got "shredded-looking" fins..

You experienced CT owners should be able to tell me....

I would think you could still tell by shortening of the fin, texture, and maybe still even color. Although I sure you would have to look pretty close.

You'll know. In the event of finrot, the rays may start to disintegrate, or the webbing will, in uneven patches. Whichever starts to go first---rays or webbing---it will have a very uneven, unnatural appearance.
