Hey guys this isnt a major problem or anything but,

My heaters lowest setting is 18 degrees C and it is currently on that setting!

And the tank temp measures 25degrees C

What could be done to get it down to around 23ish?

Thanks in Advance

Richie!

Turn the heating in your house down i'm guessing :D Room temp contributes to it aswell :D Up in scotland I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem this time of year ah.

Hi R1ch13 :)

Are you sure the thermostat on your heater is working properly? If it is, your tank is probably reflecting the temperature of the room it's in. Be sure it's not too close to a heater or sunny window. If it's placed high, it might also be warmer than if it's closer to the ground.

Thanks lad!

Oh I really dont know haha!

I had a smaller heater in the tank, and it was always down at around 23C

But i put a larger heater in it (logical to put the bigger of the 2 in the large tank and the smaller in the smaller hatching tank)

So i dont know corys seem fine, and its not like 24-25 is to warm for them anyway is it?

Not a major problem, I was just curious!

Thanks a bunch

Richie

Hi R1ch13 :)

That converts to 75 to 77 degrees F., which is rather warm for C. paleatus. It's at the very top of their temperature range. Unless you have other fish in the tank that require a warm temperature, or if the temperature in your home varies widely, you probably don't need the heater at all. Peppered corys are cool water catfish and can do well in temperature down in the low 60's.
