My friend has a 20L tank with 2 fancy tailed goldfish. They are about 8 inches long including their tails. He had these fish since they were quite small.

I think they should have something bigger than a 20L, and I owe him a favor. His current table can fit a 30 gallon tank. BTW, 20L is 30"x12"x12", 30 gallon is 36" x 16" high x 12". Is a 30 gallon suitable for these fish? At least it would be an improvement. I think the fish would be great in a 55, but buying him a 55 gallon tank and stand is out of my budget.

Dont know how many gallons the tank you want to get is but its an improvement and im sure he would be pleased to be able to upgrade them.

I make 30X12X12'' to be 70L Which could be nearly 20 US gallons. I know its over 15 UK gallons, I dunno if more experienced people would agree but I think that the 30 US Gallon would be ok if it was well filtered and maintained.

Make it a 40gal more room for the fish, the bigger the better, as they are massive waste producers.
70 litre is a 15 gal.

you mean 20g right? not litres, cos otherwise tank measurements must be wrong. it all depensa on what he can fit. a 1.5 times bigger tank is better than nothing
