I'm thinking breeding for the first time.

What do you think about this pair?

anything about gene backrounds would be nice. Are you sure you want to breed the BF to a cambodian?

The cambo gene is related to marble/butterfly, so it should be a pretty good match :)

They are so beautiful. Why do so many of you want to breed though?...the fish

Grr... How do all you people get your females bellies so full wit eggs! Mine always look SOO skinny :( stupid females eh :p

Any tips? i feed em bloodworms once a day and a few flakes before bed

I really think it's all about them.. I don't do anything special. All their tummies are like that! Sometimes I think I would rather them be eggless.. It looks like it is uncomfortable for them.

Could try more feedings of live/frozen foods rather than just one feeding of bloodworms. The flakes at night could be replaced with bloodworms, and you could add frozen foods as a 'lunch'.

it is a good looking pair but maybe not because some girls are fiscious. One time my friend had 4 males and 1 female the female beat up the 3 males so he gave it away. B)

A well fed, healthy, non-sterile adult female betta has eggs whether she's fat or not. I've bred females that were fairly slim and they produced hundreds of viable eggs.

If I'm going to be critical about it :p...

The ray branching on both does not look very desirable. They look like healthy Bettas, but not show quality. Branching is uneven on the female, and I can't see the male very well, but his also looks uneven. He also has blue wash.

I'm sure they would make cute babies, though! Very nice, especially for your first spawn.

He has begun to change colors! The BF part used to be all white.. now it's black & blue, no red though. I'm pretty sure the lady I order him from got him from Thailand.

Here he is around when I first got him

And here he is now
