Hi there,

Been reading on a website regarding bettas how they are used to being kept in small jars etc or to buy small perspex cubes that suction onto the inside of your community tank?
I find this kinda mean, but does anyone do this?
Do they need a heater or not?

Just very curious because they are awesome looking fish, i had one in my larger tank, but he was naughty to everything else so we took him back!
But would love to get another one

A 1 gallon tank/bowl is the minimum. IMO, a 2.5 or bigger is better. They need a heater if the room temperature cannot be from 76-80 degrees. It's better to have a heater to avoid temperature fluctuations since this can and will stress them out.

Please, for the sake of your betta, keep it in nothing smaller than a one gallon. YOur fish and you will be much happier! The fish would be happiest in a heated filtered tank, but they can live happily in a larger bowl or critter carrier or some sort.

filtered?

I just read somewhere that Bettas dont like the increased current a filter creates - is this true?

Like Rox-E, I think they look amazing!

You don't have to have it filtered if you are willing to do water changes more often. They don't like a strong current but a lot of people that have filters have found ways of reducing the current so that it doesn't bother the betta.

mm simb sorry to go off the subject but your cat is amazing, so perfect it looks fake!! i have three at home and think they are gorgeous! but your cat makes mine look like mongols!!!

I am talking about the cat thats pictured twice by the way! the caramel one
