Hospital tank set up

One of our fish has picked upan injury and I really want to stop it developing into something more serious (getting infections etc) so I would like to seperate and medicate this one single fish. We have a small tank (maybe 15l) and heater spare and also a small spare filter that we keep running in our main tank, so that it has bacteria if we ever need to use it - as in this situation - it can simply be added to the small tank with some aquarium water, heater and hey presto!

My question is more about what to put in this hospital tank? I've read that ideally hospital tanks should be kept bare - no substrate, decor, plants but I'm worried that the fish will be very stressed by being all alone in an empty tank with nowhere to hide. We thought about using some plants from the main tank in there and putting them back afterwards, but we have shrimp in the main tank and I know that some medications are dangerous for shrimp, so am also worried about polluting the main tank if we then shift the plants back after use in the small tank. So, is it better to:

A) Keep the hospital tank bare
B) Take some plants from the main tank and put them back when finished
C) Take some plants form the main tank but throw away when finished
D) None of the above and I'm completely wrong about everything!

If D, please educate me!

Get some plastic plants and a little cave just for hospital purposes?

I always add just a little sand on the bottom so their reflection doesn’t freak them out. I also use plastic plants.
