Yesterday can only be described as the worst day I have ever had when it comes to fish keeping. Only read on if you wish as it is a bit gruesome.
My uncle was over from America and was having him over last Friday for a meal and some drinks and wanted the tank to look superb so spent ages cleaning etc. The tank a Trigon 190 looked smashing and he was really impressed. My two weather loaches were showing off and we had a real good chat over the different fish etc in the tank.
Saturday and 1 of the loaches is missing, I figure its buried itself like normal and give up looking.
Sunday search some more the other one is buried just its snout showing so I figure the other one is somewhere.
Monday (I run the internal Juwel filter along side an Eheim 2026 Pro) I decided to once againcheck the Juwel filter basket and hey presto the loach is swimming happily about in it.
Now I cant get at it so I pull the powerhead out and stupidly dropped it into the tank without switching it off.
After lots of effort the loach returns to the tank but in the meantime the telescope has stuck its nose into the powerhead and been sucked up into it.
Unfortunately whilst trying to remove it, bear in mind its years old and had fully mature eyes they have been pulled out causing pretty much instant death.
Now this is absolutely awful but be warned the powerhead is easily powerful enough to kill a fish I found out the hard way.
Sorry Nosey, you deserved better than me. RIP.
