Since I've been home all week sick with covid my sleep schedule is entirely wrecked. It's 5am and I haven't had a lick of sleep. I'm just starting to get tired, even though on a work day I'd be leaving for work in just over an hour.

It's already hard enough to keep a sleep schedule with adhd taking me in wild adventures at midnight. I usually end up only getting 5-6 hours of sleep on a work night if I'm lucky, but I'm probably going to get 1 or 2 hours sleep when I go back later this week. Then I'll get home exhausted and immediately get my second wind, finding myself awake at 1am again despite having no sleep.

I miss getting 10 hours of sleep daily. 🧟‍♂️

Have you considered an app like Rise?

It tracks your sleep and tells you how much “sleep debt” you have, and then gives you times to go to bed and wake up. I have a friend that had a horrible sleep schedule, but after using rise, she says she’s been getting the best sleep ever.

I miss that too :(

As you get older you tend to sleep less too and it messes with your head. I used to get 10 hours a night when I was younger, but these days I'm lucky to get 4 or 5 hours a night. These last few weeks with the bugs in this new house have been horrible and I get 1-3 hours sleep per night.

I've tried using an app that came with this smart watch my girlfriend bought me, but it's incorrectly identifying when I'm sleeping and over estimating my sleep.

The sleep debt I carry is powerful haha. I end up accidentally napping for an hour or two and then incapable of sleeping later on, so I just end up more tired hahaha.

The transition from mid to late twenties has been interesting to see my body slowly starting on these changes.

That sounds terrible!

I worked night shift for 25 years starting between 7pm and 1am. When you are tired you sleep believe me. ;)

I normally get 4-5 hours a sleep. I have a very complicated schedule. Not fun. I need 8-10 hours (or atleast what my mom said).
8-10 hours is right. When I met my wife, I said to her I only slept 4 hours a night, ever since she has been beside me, I can easily sleep 10 hours.

When I was working, I used to be up and out the door by 5am every morning...whether it be the front door at home or the truck's door when overnighting at a service station when driving across Europe

I retired from truck driving over 15 years ago

The braincell still wakes me up at 4am every single flamin' morning

It is so annoying when the brain refuses to retire with the rest of the body that its attached to.

I retired recently and even if I'm writing this at 3 AM, I can't sleep past 5:35 most days. My body's trained by so many years of early schedules.

For a while, I worked rotating day/evening/night shifts and that was a mess. Then 30 years of 5:35 kicked in.

8 hours is important. You need time to grow your brain when you're younger, and to repair it as you age. Plus we all need time to dream about fishes.

If you’re a teen, you should be getting 8-10 hours of sleep every night. If you’re an adult, you should be getting at least 7 hours straight of sleep.

I don’t know what your mom was thinking, but she’s completely incorrect.

How was their mom incorrect? She told them 8-10 hours?

Try melatonin. May work. It is non habit forming.

I took melatonin last night, for the first time ever because I am sick and could not stay asleep for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time, I Don‘t think I’ve ever slept so well!
