One of my five budgies, Sparrow, the bravest budgie I ever knew, got out of the cage today through the food dish opening while the dish was being refilled. Somebody had removed the dish and asked someone else to finish feeding the birds, but the second person didn't realise that the dish was out and with all of the confusion of the kids going back to school today the job didn't get done.
Unfortunately there was no one in the room to look after Sparrow and while she was exploring she attracted the attention of Max, one of our siamese cats.
I didn't hear a thing, I was in the basement vacuuming and only found her body when I went into the livingroom to open the window a bit so the budgies could talk to the birds outside.
Sparrow was so cool. She had been found outside flying free with a flock of sparrows, hence her name. She would growl at you when you asked her to step up, just to let you know that even though she would do it, she was still in charge. But she loved being with people and she always wanted to know what you were doing. She was a really sweet bird.
I took my daughter out of school and the two of us cried all day and watched Nemo together.
It's been a bad day.
