I recently added a few plants into my tank that my red male betta fish, Deadpool, seems to like. He always seems to be gliding against them. But maybe a week or so after, I noticed his fins look somewhat ripped.

Could that possibly be because of the fake hornwort plant? I didnt actually notice it happen, but i've heard that sharp edges will damage Betta's fins? is this plant bad for him?

I've only just got my first Betta but one of the things I was aware of is that plastic plants are notorious for ripping their fins. If I were you I'd remove the plastic plants and replace them with either silk or real plants.
