Hornwort - How exactly do you aquascape with a floating plant? I tried to bury it in the gravel but it didn't stay put long. Now its just floating with nothing underneath it, and it looks kinda dumb, although my fish have been comming out more since it's been floating.

Also, what info does anyone have on the care of microswords? My girlfriend has 2 because the LFS said it was a hardy low light plant. They are her only real plants, so I am wondering if the tank will be prone to algae. I am thinking about giving her some of my hornwort to soak up some excess nutrients. Any info is appreciated.

Maybe a pic would help too. Here is is, just floating, looking like crap. I don't understand what I am supposed to do with it. I tried planting it. but it came right out once I did a water change.

Ya, put some plant weights around the stems and put them in the substrate until some roots develop. Or use rocks or something to keep the stem in the substrate until roots will hold it in there.

Hornwort will break off and float to the top, its what it does. Its useful for providing cover for the fish and making them feel safer. It also is excellent at filtering in my experience.
