Hoplo's Tank Dimentions ?

I'm thinking of transferring my three hoplos from my community tank to their own tank, What would be the minimum tank dimensions that they would be happy in, and would a sponge filter in the tank be okay, thanks in advance for any advice, Alan

a 3ft tank would be good sponge filter would be ok if you keep it clean and working,
mine lives in a community of huge fish and he just gets on with it, beautiful fish
