Many thanks to all those who've helped with my first unsuccessful attempt at fishless cycling.

Haveing started from scratch and followed only one method from the starts, rather than switching, I now today have my first nitrIte readings as well as falling ammonia levels, so it looks as though I'm on the right track.

Woohoo! Keep on adding that ammonia daily, 2-3 drops per gallon. Usually takes twice as long for the nitrites to disappear as it does for them to appear. Bit boring
