I am looking for a new hood for my tank 24"x12" as my old hood has been throught the wars, I have beeen looking and they can be a bit pricy and would just like to know if anyone could help if they know somewhere cheap on the internet in the UK/Scotland or England, or anywhere near glasgow and i could travel to see.

The cheapest so far i have got was £15.99 plus £13.99 from lifeforceonline.co.uk

Anymore suggestion please

Or am i better off buying a bigger tank as this tank has been through the wars too and the other thing a bout the tank is that it green glass and not clear so when you look into it looks as if the water is cloudy & murky but when you take the hood off it's ok, so it does bother me a bit, but i do my regular water changes once a week every sunday

One more thing is the my aunt says that when feeding my fish i should starve them for 1 day  :( or is this just a load of rubbish

ask your local shop if they can get one in.

or use it as an ace excuse to get bigger tank.

your aunt- is maybe kind of right, sort of. it's generally down to what fish you have and how much they eat etc. just try working out a feeding plan based on your fishes happiness

btw probably best to use the chit chat section for questions like the aunt question

You can sometimes find hoods on eBay - keep your eye out there.

If you have green(ish) glass and it bothers you, and you're going to spend a bit of money on a new hood, I'd consider finding a whole new (larger) tank on eBay. I recently found a fully inclusive tank 16US gallons (hood, lights, filter and some food etc.) for £5 ! :S all in great condition :good: So worth keeping your eye out for deals.

About your aunt and starving fish: well yes, I feed my adult community fish once a day 6 days a week and their starvation day is always at random. But my young growing fish (or fry) get fed a couple of times a day. So it just depends on your fish, but overfeeding is never a good thing and can lead to a host of problems. Just try and find a balance.
