Hood For 55 Gallon

someone i know is selling their 55 gallon for pretty cheap and i may buy it. i just need to buy everything else separate. i was just wondering what kind of hood it should get, because i know there is no hood that is 48" long (its 48x13). Ive seen the ones that have double hoods but are those 24" each? and what do u need to get to separate them?

You can buy or build a canopy for the top that is made of wood that could house your lights... Or you could go with the 24'' hoods that both go on there. In the middle of a 55 gallon tank their should be a brace to brace the tank, it divides the two sides making a area for both hoods. If the tank you're looking at is glass and is missing that piece I would be wary of it. You can buy the replacements from your LFS generally for $20-30
