Hi. My new set up (38x15 tank) requires some form of hood and light. The problem I have is my hight is restricted, 12cm from the top of the tank to the underside of a chimney breast. I have considered a sliding glass cover but then I have lights to fit in. With my small tank it has a plastic cover with built in light, but I can't find this type anywhere. I could fit a plastic hood in and then fit a light, but it seams much easier buiying a complete unit. Can anyone help think of a better idea. Nearly forgot. With a sliding glass cover, how do u fit pipes etc in through the back

you can get lids that the frame fits on top and they have three removable 'planks' my tank came from a similar situation to you have and that was how they solved it

you could make one or have one made-pine with rubbing wax looks good thats what my stand I made is.

I certainly took a wile but its worth it if, it helps a few people.

You could use power compacts lights (not the interpet version)

Are power compacts like spot lights? I want a well lit up tank this time

Thanks mate, I was going to buy 1 of those. The silly thing is I went to pet are us or something and they have plastic hoods with duel tubes and built in starter etc..spot on, but only come with tank:( I want 1 like that. I have had a 2ft one for years now with the same bulb. All I want is the same set up but 3 foot, it seems too much to ask
