Fish Herder
They add up!
You may remember me posting about making fish food a while back.
After using this recipe I'm proud to present it for your use!
Ingrediants.
Use the freshest ingrediants you can find!
Rice or Oatmeal- 1/4 cup un-cooked.
Orange- 1/2 an Orange (I use the whole orange, you may wanna peel it, as orange peel contains a bit of oil.)
Green Beans. 1 cup.
Corn. 1/4 cup.
Blend Orange,Greens and Corn together into a runny paste- add water as needed.
COOK the rice until it is WELL done. Add that to veggie fruit mixture. Blend WELL.
You may add a pinch of garlic if you want.
Use a dehydrator (removes moisture) until it is completely dry. Put in a bag and beat the living kabookie outta it. (this is fun!) You may wanna wrap the baggie in a towel to prevent bag breakage. Beat until desired crumbles are achieved. (or anger fades, )
Store a little bit in an empty fish food bottle. Put the rest in a freezer.
If you dont have a dehydrator- I'm very sorry, would you like a small loan?
lol, just kidding. Just freeze the mixture and break off small pieces to feed to your fish.
If feeding in a "raw, frozen" state- it can be messy and is best fed in smaller portions.
Now, some people say rice/oatmeal can kill your fish- and with good reason. Dry rice/oatmeal expands when wet, and can literally make your fish explode, depending on how much they eat at a time. That's why I say soak this food before feeding. Or, you can omitt the rice altogether. ( omitt means leave out)
As far as I know, this is NOT a complete diet. Still feed your live foods and other veggies as needed.
Orange- Provides vitamin C . Fresh meat has vitamin C in it- when we process (cook) it, it looses alot of the "good stuff".
I have several recipies, if wanted I'll update this thread as I write them down.
Hope this helps!
* Dreaded Dis-claimer *
I use this recipe and have had no deaths or unhappy fish. My fish are all active and colourful. *fat too * If you are not sure about feeding this to your fish- don't do it! Do some research, there are many ways to make fish food.
