Hi

I have a group of 11 cardinals and have had them for around 8 months now. The other day I noticed that some of them (about 5) seem to have either flat or concave bellies compared to the other ones whose bellies are the normal rounded convex shape.

All the fish seem to be eating ok.

does anyone know if this something to be alarmed about or not? There are no other symptons and all water parameters are good.

thanks

If it really looks unnaturally concave it could be the sign of an internal parasite, but I'd say it's more likely that you're looking at the flatter stomached males.

Ah..... :)

Why cant us girlies have the flatter stomachs?? :D not fair! :p

Is there any other way to tell them apart??

Feeling a bit silly now... :*)

Gotta learn somehow. That's the only way I know of.

I heard u could telll them apart from there light
its supposed to be slightly curved for a female and straight for a male
hope this helps
