HOB filter placement

Hey guys great forum, Where is the best placrment for a HOB filter. I have a 30 L tank that is not planted. In the middle or off to the side? This is my first tank and would be thankful of any suggestions.

I plan on having a community tank with platies, tetras, and ottos. If this makes a differences.

I would suggest putting it to the side so that the fish can swim into the current if they want, but it really doesn't matter.

I put mine on the right left side as on the right I have a air pump install so both side have current.

Placement isn't all that important, though it wouldn't hurt to place the intake near the middle. Make sure the intake tube is long enough to get close to the bottom too, as that's where most of the detritus you want to get will be found.
