Which filter runs the quietest (yes, while it's on) for a 20 and 30 gallon tank?

I've found the aquaclears 200 and 300 quieter then Marinelands, so I think it may very well depend on the individual unit.

Avoid whispers, they are not very good filters, with no versatility whatsoever.

i have all aquaclears (i have a 200 i believe on my 20), very quiet. all i hear is a soft trickling water sound, and thats if i'm really listening for it. i had box filters with air pumps before, drove me batty. i now have aquaclears on four tanks. you just have to be careful not to run it while its dry (will burn out the motor), and they don't have a switch so you can only turn them off by unplugging them (pain when the power goes out, lost one filter motor that way......................). fosters and smith usually has them on sale, and even with shipping, they've been cheaper than in any store around here.

i have an aquaclear 300 on a 30 gallon tank.....very quiet.........try bigalsonline.com............great prices!!!!!!

I have a Whisper Advanced 20-40, and it's very quiet, you would never know it's on. I want a bio-wheel, so I ordered a Penguin 330, hope it's as quiet as the Whisper.
