Hello Guys
As you may be aware I picked up two rams sunday (a pair)....all seemed to be going well until this morning when I had a look in the tank and the one I thought of as a female has brightened up and showing the signs of being male.....and the "male" is all faded....

The "female" has been chasing the "male" around the tank....
I had heard that males have two spines on the dorsal fin which show up as a male.....both of mine have longer dorsal spines at the front. :/
what should i do??

what is the difference in the sexes?? I need to sort this out my tank is not big enough for two males.

Most species of cichlids show differences in the dorsal and anal fins. ,ales will have longer and pointier tips of both fins while the females will be shorter and rounder tips. There is a coloration difference for rams too between the sexes, but I'm don't remember exactly what it is... sorry. hopefully somebody else will respond with this

Here is the "male". note the extended dorsal fin at the front.

What do you think?? sorry about the quality of the pictures.

The colours on them seem to change from minute to minute so that shows you cant judge sex by the colour.

Hey I am no expert, but looking at the anal fins I think that you have the gender roles reversed. I think that your male is actually a female (rounded anal fin). And the your female is the male (longer, pointed anal fin). Don't mark my words on this though!
