Hi, i'm new here, i've been looking around for a decent forum to talk cuz, well, people who play video games in the other forums obviously dun know much about fish.

Anyway, i recently bought an F8 puffer and of course reading about it, i knew it needed snails too (both diet and for the reason that it needs to file down it's beak) so i got some snails (size of the smilies :D ) and the puffer(not that big about an 1 inch/2 cm) tends to just wait till the snail comes out of the shell and just SUCKS them out! It doesnt even bother with the shell at all, it just stalks em and SUCKS them out! (i find it actually pretty funny when i watch it do that)

So thing is, should i buy bigger snails or somethin? Cuz i'm kinda worried even though i've only had it for about 2 weeks, i still have to take care of it in the long run.

Not at all :) my puffers do this all the time. When they feel the need to'file' you'll see them munch on the shell so, no worries!

I would try smaller snails if anything. I wouldnt feed my puffer snails the size of the smilies because I dont think he wouldnt be able to break the shells. Smaller snails fit right into his mouth and he crunches away. try 1/2 - 3/4 the size and see what he does....

Ugh, that's a problem, that's the smallest ones they got, i guess i haf to breed em, but if it's like what Eve said, then i'm good.

If you pick up a trapdoor snail about the size of a quarter the puffer will chew at the shell until it gets to the meat. One every couple of months should keep it busy (I'd still give it some pond snails to eat as well.)
