well i have noticed the middle of 1 of my 4 frogspawn libs are splitting and im not sure if this is how they multiply... and the thing im really confused about it... i know it look just liek a frogspawn EXACTLY like it, its growing fast, but it doesnt have any sweeper tentacles at all they have never come out and i see it almost all day... so im confused i thought frog spawn had these????
what will it look liek when it is dividing??? or how does it...

Without pics or being there, its hard to tell, but your right, a frgspawn does not devide as such. You might have a coral flesh bail out. The coral is basically dying (if it is a coral bailout) and it can survive outside its skeleton for an extended period. You can bring corals back that are starting to degrade. They require flow where they get disturbed every few seconds, and lighting requirements id say were medium for a frogspawn. Try placing it higher up if you can. Other than that, tell us what your stats are, like Alk, Calcium, and the essentials.

Sounds to me like you might just be witnessing more head brancying... But like Mr Miagi said, tough to say without pics

i dont test for that yet, i had the tests but the bottle got stepped on and its gone, so im waiting for more money, but the only reason i think its a frog spawn is because its look, but it has no sweeper tentacles and the lfs said th light would be the only thing feeding it, and rogspawn can eat live food, so what else could it be if it looks just the same as frogspawn.... uuum ill try and get a picture up tonight...

but for now heres the pic from a week ago, and now the center looks liek an anenome its bald its getting wider, and it just has a little hoel in the center where it looks liek its splitting, the other ones on the top r doign fine and they are one plant but split into 2 seperate stocks....

frogspawn a week ago

hmm and the stuff the in the middle is just the skeleton for the other plant, WOW its so much smaller.....

Well, itsdefinitely a Euphyllia genus coral. Of which are the common species frogspawn, hammer, toch, and a couple others. Not all Euphyllia genus corals have sweepers. They all reproduce by dividing their heads as they grow. As they grow the heads can be fragged or broken off to make daughter colonies. I wouldn't worry that it doesnt have sweepers out as even those that do bring them out when they feel like it. SOmetimes they're nocturnal, sometimes they extend when there's food, and sometimes they just extend for the sake of it. As long as its perky and colorful I wouldn't worry too much

oh man you just made my day, ive been worrying about it all day, it is out and nice and puffed up, it retracts at nigh because my clown sleeps in it so it gets disturbed... but ya i didnt think they were hoels because the area around it is all clear and flat and it looks like its making new skeletons for a dividing ya idno, the one on top was one plant and i saw it later to day from the fish whisping by that its devided completely compared to when i first got it,,, i guess its really fast, wow thats gr8 ;) i hope ...... the only thing that really frutrates me is i just did a water change 5 gallons out of my tank and it didnt bring the nitrates down at all ;(((((( grrrr....... i have to wait 3-4 weeks to go and get my skimmer..............

Good looking frogspawn. Here is a pic of the one I have. They are definately awesome corals!

wow they look cool, they easy to keep, wot lights do u need?

Euphyllia genus corals are pretty easy to keep IMO. Typical LPS corals. They like good alk (9-11dKH), good calc (400+), stable pH and salinity, and decent lighting. T5, PC, or MH. My hammer coral is pretty deep in my tank (18") under PC lighting and does great.

awsome i saw some of those in the LFS today and its so cool its got one of those green glow to it :D def getting one of those!

Remember that the coral will look different when you take it home depending on how similar your lighting is to that at your LFS. For example, if the LFS has them under lots of 10k and you have lots of 20k it'll look different. Similar, but just a different shade. So dont be surprised...

ya myne is gorwing at a really fast pace its almost twice the size of when i bought it... i like it and my clown lieks to sleep in it too, it seems to have food stick to it so my shrimp likes that too? but i wonder if its legs will punture it?

Mines under VHO lighting. They don't seem to care too much. Mine comes out more when the flow isn't very heavy it likes moderate flow. When it was getting high it wouldn't come out all the way. I don't spot feed mine and its one of my most healthiest looking coral. I just do DT's photoplankton every other day.

uh oh i c a lil hole in one of my stalks like the calcium part, hmmm i think its from a type of worm... cuz its full out n happy idno could it b from a fish cuz i kno at the moment i have a bowtie damsel n they rnt reef safe n im taking him back this weekend, but idno maybe its one of my bristle worms since i have alot of em.. crap why do i get an odd problem...
