I want to know which of these 2 brands are better, anyone recommend one or another make completely.

They are for a group of bristlenoses.

Thanks.

i have hikari alge awafers and my bristlenose plecos never touch them :(

ahh i was thinking of hikari purely because there cheaper the tetra, but thats not always a good thing.

Also what veg do you feed them?

Im feeding cucumber courgette and lettuce, but was thinking mushrooms and butternut squash?

Anyone know if this would be ok?

I have four pleco in a 11o gallon and feed them Hikari algae wafers and they love it, always waiting to be fed at same time. Been using six months. Good product!

i feed mine a mix of tropical flakes and cichlid pellets and they browse on algea every now and then, but they are really fat :p

I wouldnt bother with mushrooms, too soggy and grim!! However, I used carrot to hilarious effect :p (bristles all had orange poops for days!! LOL ) and brocolli and cauliflower too.

As for algae wafers etc, out of the two... Tetras two coloured wafers (green with beige ring round outside) are far better and tend to go down better too....

However I rarely found plecs (other than in shop environment) were ever interested in big wafers and they just got dragged under something and left to rot....

Another one to consider is New Era Catfish Pellets. They are just a waxy sinking pellet rather than wafers but plecs go nuts for them! Even our Golden Nuggets go mad for them and they were determined to starve to death until we tried these! Now all our loaches, cories and plecs get New Era Catfish Pellets (cichlids on New Era and Goldfish on New Era too :) ) Awesome foods!

About £5 for 120g but you would only need a few granules as it goes a long way! For 2-3 plecs that pot should last most of a year lol

Ok thanks for that information, so if i give them lettuce cucumber courgette carrot brocolli maybe some peppers?

I have 10 plecs in total in the tank so ill get some of the tetra wafers and that new era catfish pellets they should be fine for a while.

10 plecos! Wow...... Yeh, that sounds good, what type of lettuce do u feed them???

THink of it this way... the softer the food... the less likely it is to be good in a tank. Iceburg lettuce is pointless, its not good for anything, barely even worth eating for humans and certainly too much can do harm. Hence courgette (being tougher) is better than cucumber... and peppers might be ok as rare treat but they really are soft... think of tougher veg lol.

What lettuce do you feed them? I'm still trying to find something else he enjoys, he's one picky pleco! So far just cucumber which he chomps through, he don't touch apple, didn't touch carrot, what else? I'm will buy some courgette for him to eat, I hope he likes that!

) Awesome foods!

I bought a few New Era products (XL catfish pellets, SM tropical pellets, tropical flake, SM plec pellets) for the first time just beofre Xmas and my fish love them! In addition, the soft texture of the pellets allows the possibility of moulding the food to attach it to pebbles/rocks. A little word of warning, this brand uses high protein content, so be very carfeul with meal portions otherwise you could end up with a "surprise" ammonia spike.

I tried pepper today and its a hit! I'll keep getting lots of different veg including butternut squash till I have a good range of things I can feed them. Thanks
