I had a 30 gallon tank 30 years ago, i'm wanting to get back into hobby. Any suggestions or help is welcome...thank yous..

No problem! What tank size are you planning on? I would recommend testing your water for hardness or looking at your water quality reports online to find it. Only hard water fish van be kept in hard water and only soft water fish in softwater. If either isn't kept in their correct hardness/softness they can get kidney failure. Not sure if you knew that either

As @Rocky998 had mentioned, check your water hardness(GH) and pH to find out what fish are suitable for you.

If you have hard water and high pH, African fish, live bearers such as Guppies, Platies, Mollies or Rainbow fish are suitable.

But if you have soft water and low pH, then you can consider most South American and Asian fish.
