TFF needs YOUR freshwater snail photos! We are hoping to update as many entries as we can in the pinned Snail ID thread with high quality photos from TFF members. Whether it's pest snails or fancy ornamental snails, if you have clear, high resolution snail photos, post them here!

Photo criteria & rules:
  • The photo(s) must have been taken by you. Do not post photos taken by other people or found on the web.
  • Photos must be uploaded directly to TFF as an attachment to your post in this thread (no embedding images from other image hosting sites).
  • Minimum size of 300x300 pixels.
  • The snail must be clearly visible and in focus.
  • The snail must be photographed in a freshwater or brackish tank/environment.
  • If you purchased your snail(s), please list the common names they were sold under. No need to have a full scientific name!
  • Each photo should ideally contain only one species (at least as the focal point).
  • Posting a photo here doesn't guarantee it will be used in the ID thread.
  • If your photo is selected for the ID thread, we will credit your username as the photo source.

It may be too big? It arrived as a hitch hiker. It eats plants, so I gave it away. May be an Apple snail?

Definitely one of the larger apples, very round shell is another giveaway. I had a lovely girl like this one too. Ate everything but she was so fun.

A couple of ramshorns

I know this photo won't be used but I thought It was cool. This shell belonged to the first "pest" snail I got around 2+ years back I decided to keep it in my tank and it did very well living a decent life alongside my Sawbwa.

Length 1.8cm Width 1.1cm

Speedy the nerite on her first day in Tank #2. Notice the swath of clean fake-rock? She has since returned to Tank #1.

That'll be either Pomacea canaliculata or P. insularum. They are hard to differentiate below a certain size; P. insularum has both a much larger max size (around 4" or so) and gets a flat area followed by a sharper angle running along the spiral groove.

I was able to take good care enough of this nerite in the last months.

That it completely fixed it's shell scarf's and even more, Completely restored it's apex. The drastic color difference and the little bulge all around are witness to the evolution of the damages he had before. This had a hole in it.

I will gladly post other picks of it when he shows off, but he is doing so well, I rarely saw them do that.

Edit: the white spots you see on it are seed shrimps. it's finish is like a Ferrari.
