How do I get my nitrit levels down?

I have a salt water tank that is 100cm long, 50cm high and 48cm in width.

My nitrit level is above 1.0.

I have no fish in there yet, just some liverock.

The tank was empty for about 10 days. I then added liverock (10Kg worth). Its been about 5 days since I added live rock. So the tank has been alive for about 20 days or so now. Theres 10kg of live rock in it only.

Should I stop feeding the liverock? I have feeding them daily about 10 drops of " Advanced Invertebrate 1 Formula - Nutrional diet for fine filter feeders".

Tank info:

length 100cm - 39.37 inches

width 47cm - 18.5 inches

height 50 cm - 19.7 inches

235 Litres

62 US gallons

51.7 UK gallons

thanks!

I don't think you're supposed to feed live rock in the first place. Especially If you are using it to cycle your tank.
Uh, I hope you knew this beforehand, but "Living Rock" is not actually alive, it's called "live" rock because it harbours many animals and algae that are alive. The rock itself is not alive in any way.

If I were you, I'd put that food away and save it for some animals, like corals, that will need it. Live rock is basically a self-sufficient community, the animals on it eat eachother or algae.

It is very likely that the constant feedings are keeping your nitrite up.

I agree it doesnt need to be fed. But you do need more of it ;). Try and go for another 15-20kgs. I know its expensive, but it is also essential to the long-term stability of the tank
