Hi,

As some of you know I have been having a problem in getting my pH to go above 8.0 even with adding buffers.

I was advised to keep my calcium level at around 480 to 500 due to having quite a few corals. I have read however that a high calcium level can drop pH.

What levels do people maintain their calcium levels at?

Thanks.

Ok Ph
I would say a pH range from 7.8 to 8.5 is an acceptable range for a reef tank, some reef tanks running calcium reactors for e.g. also have problems getting the Ph into the higher end of the ph range due to the Co2 pulling it down but in my opinion these tanks are among some of the nicest tanks around LPS SPS ect  . There are many things that can effect Ph the most important thing is stability! :good: , if you can keep the ph stable within these parameters then your well on the way  , as for the calcium It is advised to keep the calcium levels on the higher end of the scale because calcification becomes more difficult at the lower end of the pH range if the calcium levels fall. so it is advised to keep the calcium levels normal to high (400-450 ppm) :good:
