Can some tell me just how far Tanganyaki Shell Dwellers "telmatochromis shell" can hide in shells

I've just bought a tank from a guy in sunderland supposedly with these in, along with fry. I saw the tank up and running with all fish, got the tank home and setup but no sign of the parents. I've checked the shells as well as I can and looked around the tank but no sign.

Thanks

Kevin

I'll be well P'd off if the guy has pulled a fast one, especially as he would of needed to hae been super sneaky as I only left the tank for seconds

Thanks

Kevin

They can hide in shells for a very long time, like most shell dwellers they will cling to the inside of the shell, i have been worried in the past that i havnt seen fish but then they appear when ready.....
Hope they come out at some point, keep us posted, pics would be nice when you get the chance :good:

have just got back from walking the dog and caught a glimpse of Mr & Mrs. The fry are always out but it was the breeding pair I wanted to see

Will get pics as soon as they gain more confidence and show their face a little more

I'm sure they will be in there, when cleaning out the tank I thought I had lost a Multi because it was hiding in the shell, Telmats are cool, :good:

they are. I was trying to find out more info about them and found out they are referred to as T.Swell, probably due to the swell on their forhead.

Any idea on how much the uvi's would go for? I cant find any on aquarist classifieds
