Right, we bought a new coral at the weekend. I originally thought it might be an acropora sp but now am not so sure. however, there is another special reason why we bought this coral, can you tell why?

Sadly, by the fourth pic the saphire goby is demanding more food (as is its want). So while waiting for that to clear, and letting you have a think on what is in the pics above, let's look at some improvements on what I thought were dead and gone hard corals. I have a frag of acropora and a plate-like coral described as "grass coral". Both have been turning white and had very little polyp action for some time, but now seem to be coming back to life. Especially the plate coral as I have never seen this many polyps on it. The only real change has been the addition of a Tunze Nano Stream 4500 to the tank, so I can only assume it has helped (these two sit right in the flow).

Now then, back to the new coral. The only way to show well what is special is with two out of focus pictures (that naturally do not do justice):

Look in the middle of the two main branches and you can see a white crab with a black stripe across the front of his carapace. We saw the crab on the coral in the shop and nina fell in love. I myself love the crabs that hang out on corals and defend them from pests while eating food that flows over and gets caught in them, so we had to have it.

Hope you had some fun.

Nice hitchhicker!
Once the acro settles under your lights and as long as the nutrients are low then you should see it colour up nicely.
