not too far on for sure. i think you should release her if you have plants. i do that with my guppies the box stresses them out.

Hello and welcome to the forum, last group of platy fry my fish had was 13. 11 made it to adulthood. If there is plenty of places for them to hide and your other fish are well feed I would allow the mother to have them in the tank. I agree with @Sgooosh being in the "box" can stress the mother out. If you worry the fry will be eaten catch them in a cup and put them into the box after they are born.

one time i put one of my females in a breeder and it freaked out, took a big poop and jumped out lol

look how big her stomach is if its squarw and bulging and if you shine a flashilght NOT ON HER EYES you can see the gravid spot on her belly. there are little eye/egs there. if they are big shes almost ready
