Thanks for all the advice and replies people.
RCA-I don't know if they are planning on getting any in tbh, there's another fish shop not too far from me that's a bit better than the one I went to so I will pop up there and look for the kuhlis. I don't actually have another tank to put fish in temporarily actually, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get one ay?
Regarding the cory price, I think he was £10, whereas the bronze cory's were £2.50 each. I'm off at the weekend so will go and get some more, just don't want to overcrowd the bottom of the tank too much really, do you think 2 more so I've got 4 cory's in total is good?
Thanks.

Ideally you should have 6 of each type of cory or any shoaling fish.

Yes, re: quarantine tank, keep it simple and I personally do not have any substrate in mine.  As I mentioned you can go for a small one and can get some fairly good basic glass tanks.  Also, look on Gumtree you maybe able to pick one up fairly cheaply.  You do not really need lights etc as you will not be growing live plants in there.  With mine I have a clear lid so the fish get light from natural light plus the under cabinet lights in the kitchen before bedtime.  Then get some filter hose from your LFS, about 2 meters, and keep this for cleaning the quarantine tank.  Have a separate small filter and heater too.  I like the Superfish Nano 50W as it is only about 17cms, and fits neatly into a small aquarium - I think I have about five of these now and only ever had one faulty one.

That is a good price for that Cory, do you know if it was wild caught or aquarium bred?  You can ask your LFS where you got him from.

Re: overstocking the bottom of the Aquarium, I know you are reluctant but you mentioned re-homing your synodontis, are you any further forward on this?  Maybe post in the forum, in the classifieds, asking anyone with a larger aquarium that may want him/her?  It is always hard to let some fish go that have outgrown the aquarium but better in the long run for all concerned.  I once bought a small 28 Litre (7 gals) with a HUGE catfish in it, I gave the catfish to the LFS and he ended up in about a 340 gallon tank - can't be bad!

Personally I have tended to stay with species that will not become too large for my aquarium as then I am able to fit in more smaller fish, like Corys and Kuhlis/Javas.

I am really interested in what Cory it is, will you do the Planet Catfish thing as advised?

Happy fishing

It's more likely to be C.duplicarous.... the most noticeable difference tends to be the much broader black line down the spine.

Thanks JenCliBee - wow what similarities.  I am now wondering what mine is!

I went to google and put two windows side by side of the two and clicked on images - I am sure some are mixed up as it is very hard to tell.  I found a good link which has the two side by side on the third image in the viewer http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/corydoras-adolfoi/

I understand that the Adolfoi is harder to breed, whereas the Duplicarous is easier?  My LFS has some in at £20 each, labelled as Adolfoi, as mine were when I got them (paid £10 for each of mine).  I now wonder which they are...more research me thinks

- I will try and get a pic of mine sometime soon.

Here is a picture of mine...P1060901 - Aldolfi.JPG...so do we think they are the same Cory, although as stated mine does not have the golden snout.  He was just ready for take off!

This is the one Nico123 has, re-quoted it so they are on the same page.

Love that fish!  He is so cool.  I am completely inexperienced with fish other than the common Platys, Corys, Gourami, etc., so I hope it doesn't sound stupid when I ask what kind of fish he is?

It's a glorious synodontis cat. My husband has one in his 75g, and I'm so jealous!

How I wish I had room for one! *sigh* but my tank is already fully stocked...and he looks a little big to be in a 37 gal. tank anyway.

I've added another 3 cory's to the existing 2 now so have a happy little shoal of 5 swimming around now. Will try and get some pictures up this week.
