Hello everyone, I hope You're all having a great day!
Just a little introduction as I am new to these forums...
I'm Luke, I currently have a 60L small community fish tank and a 300L SA Cichlid tank which has just finished cycling and have only just stocked today with 2x juvinile gold severums and 2x threadfin acaras! I plan on adding more fish to my 300L and hopefully can get a much larger 560L tank to house my sevs when they grow up! I have kept community tropical freshwater fish since I was around six years old and I've always been desperate to keep medium-large SA cichlids however never had the space to do so until now. Very excited to talk to you all and learn more along the way!

If you want breeding pairs of these fishes, you should buy a group of 8-10 young fish and grow them up together. As they mature they will pair off naturally and you can then move the pr into their own tank or move the other fish out.

Acarichthys heckelii are one of my favorite cichlids. Absolutely stunning fish when they mature. :)

Hi Thanks so much Colin!
I wouldve loved to have breeding pairs but as I was looking to add a few more fish to the tank I decided to buy an established pair who were already mixed with the sevs which was awesome as I was worried about the much larger Acarichthys heckelii bullying the sevs.
I love Acarichthys heckelii too! they are beautiful cichlids with great personality and I cant get over how even as they are maturing they still look stunning before they are fully grown!
I wish they weren't so hard to find though as I got extremely lucky because my lfs had a pair the day I'm starting to stock my tank. :)

Awesome fish! Always found silver dollars interesting, heard people keep them with a huge range of fish including jack dempsey’s which caught my eye. Always wanted to watch a JD grow up but that’s for the future, has anyone been successful keeping jewel cichlids with mixed SA cichlids? If I hadn’t heard so many bad stories of people trying to fit them in any sort of community, would’ve picked some up yesterday.

Like I have replied I kept a pair with the Severum's. They were out numbered and out sized so they were just like little pussy cats ( Don't tell @Colin_T )

Hahahaha I won’t tell don’t worry, I’ll definitely own some one day but for the time being i’m going to focus on my current fish who in just one day look absolutely stunning! Especially the threadfin acara! definitely recommend if you don’t already have some.
