hi. Im a newbie on the boards, and i just got my tank a 2 months ago.

My tank is currently 75 gallons, 2 internal heaters(for 50 gallons each), 2 external filter(one is for 60 gallons, and the other one is for 40 gallons). It is moderately planted and has 10 tiger barbs, 20 zebra danios and and 1 Faether fin catfish(syno. eupterus?spelling?).

anyways, my questions are:
1. will chiclids be ok in the tank?

2. the water is on the slightly alkaline side, and the LFS told me that i dont need to change the water as San Diego has alkaline water. but i read that they need a slightly acidic water. should i change it?

3. My tiger barbs are doing something weird. They hover on one place, then kinda flashing thier fins or showing it off. After that, they all come back to the normal fish position. I thought they were sick at first(i had 4 bala sharks which all died from ich a month after i purchased them. 2 of the tiger barbs got infected, but is recovering. I also lost one of the syno.). Are they courting?

4. How much fish can a 75 gallon tank hold?

Thanx and any help wud be really appreciated.

was i over crowding? i read that you can keep one inch of fish per gallon. I was gonna transfer my bala sharks to my 2nd 100 gallon(2 goldfish) tank once they reach 5 inches.

Just as long as you go by the simple rule of "one inch per gallon" and you give them room to grow and swim around, it should be ok. :D
