hey guys im new to tropicals but have goldies  for years now and am realy good at knowing... well goldfish and what they need.

ok here are my questions to start out with.

do you need to cycle the tank?

im looking at geting a ten gallon. and i want bright schooling fish(not too familer to wuts out there) any ideas?

how much room do tropicals need?

and are all of them eat only meat?

wut does the ph need to be or dose it range around the fish?

im hearing talk about asin tanks and alstrailan tanks wuts this about?

i have 2 weather loaches and love them for cleaning and entertainment in my goldie tank is there fish like that personality wise and dose a great clean up job in tropicals?

wuts a good starter fish/es?

lol sorry for all the questions but i want to get it right the frist time i do it (not like my other tank)
lol exspect for me to ask alot of questions :*)

You should cycle the tank but fish will survive a non cycled tank sometimes however it can resulting in shorter lifespans
1 inch of fish per gallon of water is supposed to work for fish under five inches
no very few to none probally eat only meat and saome species are entirely herbivourus
asian and australian tanks are biotopes where the tank is usually setup to resemple parts of the natural habitats of fish from that area and the tanks will only contain fish from these places

that's just what i know from youur questions hope this helps

Yes, whenever you start up a new tank, it must be cycled!

Your best bet would be a species of Tetra look here for a list of whats avalible

how much room do tropicals need?

it depends on how big they are, but the GENERAL rule is one inch per gallon, as already stated

and are all of them eat only meat?

Most commonly avalibe fish will eat any food be it flakes, or freeze dried

wut does the ph need to be or dose it range around the fish?

For a general community tank, try keep the ph at around 7.0, if it's a little over or under, don't worry to much, most fish can cope quite easily

m hearing talk about asin tanks and alstrailan tanks wuts this about?

This refers to biotope aquarium, in which you try to recreat a certain environment and keep fish/plants, etc, that live in that certain area.

Catfish do a great job cleaning up tropical tank corydoras catfish are generally what a lot of people go for, when aiming to get a fish to clean up the tank

wuts a good starter fish/es?

great starter fish for a 10 gallon would include, Tetras, Barbs, Catfish, certain gouramie, cory's and the list goes on, but they are great to start with!

Hope all this helped a bit
