is english your first language? this may help in people trying to help. if your english isnt very good then we will try to keep things simple for you.

do you have any test kits? we need to know how your nitrites, nitrates, ph and ammonia are for both your tanks.
your 10 gallon sounds like it is over stocked. how often do you do water changes and how much each time.
to cycle your 20 gallon you could have put some old gravel in and used old filter material to get your tank to cycle faster. doing this and your tank could be cycled in two weeks.
as you are using goldfish you should have started with one fish to slowly get the filter established, then add another a week later. two would have been plenty. the tank can take a couple of months to cycle this way. then you would need to test your water to see when the ammonia spikes started and then you could lower that by water changing, this is probably why your goldfish died. once you start getting readings for nitrite then keep these below 1 too and then slowly your nitrate reading is established. check your water from the tap too to see what the readings are there. if you dont own test kits your pet shop can test the water for you.
as for using the 10 as a cichlid tank im afraid you cant as cichlids need a bigger territory. you could use it as a quarantine tank.

goldfish need at least 10 gallons when they are young. as they grow they need more space, and you will need between 15 ang 20 gllons per fish.
as for tropicals i think its an inch of fish per gallon, but you need to find out the adult size of a fish to work it out.
someone can tell you how many fish you can have for your tank, but if you want angels then the 20 gallon would be for them alone.

that was a joke "ENGLISH PLEASE"
that means that i did not understand it and can u explain it again
get it

what do you mean a lot of your fish will grow it fast

by the way i went to the store to get filter media

i saw the sword tails 2 fo 4.99

they were different than the others i had saw they looked like a bettas fins

so i put them in the 10

then i was going to move them in the 20h

angles alone it the 20HIGH alone

i had 2 in my 10 gal

they died because i got snails form driet wood that i got from petland

the snails ate the eye's out of all my fish

iot was sad and discusting

Firstly, I have personally never heard of snails eating fish eyes. The chances are that poor water quality caused this.

I would also add that it might be worth you researching a condition called Old Tank Syndrome with regards to your main tank (it has been running 5 years, right?) Having been cleaned "more than once" tells us little about your tank maintenance routine. You should change a percentage of your tank water weekly, that percentage being dependable on stocking levels etc. Do you test your water regularly?

In addition, I would read up on cycling before stocking, and I would advise you build your stocking up slowly to avoid a mini cycle :)

Good luck!

thanks
i change 30% of the water every 2 weeks
any bright colored community fish that u could tell me about name pics max size
what exactly should i do then

OK I'll try to make this sound as nice as posible.

1, I can hardly understand what you are typing, If people could understand better then they would arnser better.

2, I think you should consentrate on the fish you have now, before going any futher.

3, Goldfish are cold water fish and do not need a heater.

4, how fast did the goldfish die.

5, Please could you stop making new threads when you don't get the arnser you want to hear as, some people have real problems and everyone you post pushes the inportant one's down.

5, you balt more fish even though you have problems with the tanks??

6, if the filter medea is bran new, it will not help your tank.

7, goldfish need at least 10g per fish, and if kept in the right condition can life for about 15 year, and get to about 12inch's long.

finaly 8,

i was going to move the fish from the 10 into the 20h and add more fish
i was thinking of
_____swordtails
_____anglefish
_____pleco
_____albino cat
_____neons
_____zebra dainos
_____dwaft grammie
_____silver dollar
_____terrors (???)
is that possible

swordtails = 4 inch's
anglefish =5 inch's
pleco= depending on type 6-12 or more inch's
albino cat, (ashuming there corys)= about 3 Inch's and realy should have at least 4
neons= 1 inch need 5, and angle's and neon don't get on well.
Danios= about 2 inch's I think they need to be in groups, are very zippy and can be nippy.
Dwaft grammie??????
silver dollars= 4 inchs need to be in at lest groups of 4.
Terrors, I not shore how big they get but I KNOW never mix them.

with just them alone you 20 will have to many fish, and most won't get one.

the fish you have at the moment.

_____fish (1 abalino cat,3 red eye tetra,3 silver tip tetra, 2 bleeding heart tetra)

you need 3 more albino cat (ashuming there corys)= 3 inch's each
2 more atleast red eye tetra, not shore how big they get.
2 more at least silver tip, not shore how bug they get.
and at least 3 more bleeding hearts, = about 3 ich's each.

lastly I would'nt advice anyone to put ANY cichlids in a 10G.

I realy hope you understand all that, and make the best desition for your fish and not yourself.

Only took me 20 mins to post all that, PWEW.
