Hey guys and gals,

I'm Jake [23] and I am newish to the site, Think I've been on here before but it was many years ago,

I got my first fish when I was 15 from the funfare and a bowl for £5 thought it look lonely so bought another goldie 2 months later got a 15L tank for my Birthday, This kicked off the hobby for me...5 months later I bought a 24" 67L tank and got couple of danios to fill it a bit, moved out of my mums and donated all the cold water fish and set up a Tropical tank with Guppies (saw them and fell in love lol) Got 1 male Green Snakeskin and 5 green females, Bought a 3ftx1x1 tank to raise the fry, ended up selling alot to mates and their friends, Moved again and "borrowed a 4ft tank from a friend who couldnt store it, this was a heavily planted community tank with co2 injection and insane lighting (3x 40W 3foot bulbs and a moon light) this was in the kitchen and had the 2ft and 3ft in the living room, Bred Siamese fighting fish in those, sold everything when I moved AGAIN!! now I have a 24"x15x12 with fake plants and some Tetra,Red tail black shark (only 4cm) 2 golden gourimai 2x kuhli loach and a dwarf loach....

I freaking love the beady eyes on the Kuhlis so will be going down to the LFS to find some,I'm thinking of getting 4 more tetras as they have fun buzzing around the top of the tank....

Anyhoooo enough of me yakking away......Hi!

Jake

Hi Jake,

Welcome you have joined a great forum. I got into fishkeeping same way as you did (i realise its the wrong way to now lol) and have been addicted ever since.

Also want to congratulate your local teams win yesterday. I hope your a swindon fan purely for the fact that when your team scores a goal your legendary manager sprints half the pitch to celebrate with the players, no one else would even dream of doing that, lol.

Hello Jake,

I logged into the forum today and picked up your posting.

I am from Swindon (Old Town) too. I have a couple of tanks in the house and another in the garage. I have had an outbuilding put up to hold a few more tanks later, but my daughter is using that for her art work for the next couple of years. I am over run with black mollies, but also have a few other decorative fish. I like loaches a lot, although I will eventually be breeding Tooth Carp and Gourami (thick lipped) when I get the space. I used to keep many tanks when I was a teenager, but only restarted the hobby a few years ago. I am getting on for sixty now.

This forum is very helpful and I would commmend it. If you want to touch base any time or compare notes, contact me through the forum. I have been thinking about joining a club sometime but haven't found anything around here yet.

Best wishes, David

Hey David,

I am in Morden so not too far away. you know of any good Fish shops? I been to maidenhead in cheney manor and blooms in wroughton.

Jake

Those are the only two I know round here. I think world of Water are best, but not cheap.

I will let you know if I hear of anything else.

BTW I get kit like aquariums from Rainbow Koi in Melksham, but they don't do tropical fish. Pumps, lights, etc from 'Sea of Green' in Swindon (Eastcot Hill near town centre).

Best wishes,

David
