It's been a long time since I've had an aquarium and I've wanted to get one for some time. I finally got a spot in my house for one. I got a 60 gallon freshwater tank. It's used so it needs a little cleaning inside. It was well taken care of so there's no build up of calcium, just some spotty haziness in spots. I was hoping to avoid taking it outside to clean it. Really a little glass cleaner would do it but I know that's a no no. Is there anything I can use in a spray on wipe off form? It will be a few days before I start putting the gravel and decor in after i clean it. Would vinegar be ok?

I have used vinegar on the interior of my tanks without ill affects. For the exterior I don't see an issue with window cleaner but I would be cautious about making sure none goes inside. For initial setup of a tank before I set it up I fill it 1/3 to half full with water, with the treatment, wipe the insides down repeatedly for a couple of days off and on before I drain it and fill it properly.

With used tanks I usually take them outside and sterilize them with bleach, then use the garden hose to fully rinse them out a few times before bringing them in. I do the same with my tanks that have sat empty for a time.

I'll give the vinegar a go. The lady I got the tank from kept her fish really well. She didn't want to get rid of the tank but she had neck and back surgery and can't take care of it anymore. She even built, stained and poly'd the cabinet herself.
