The quality of the pic is not brilliant and I will be taking more photos of this guy in the near future so be warned.
I just got this guy today, he is checking out the female guppies in this pic. The guppies are safe as they are in a hatchery within the tank.
I think I am going to call this guy bielsibub (eerm that is if I could spell it!)

He is totally red and has also got red eyes. He has one of those really evil looks. According to the lfs (who I trust) this guy was caught from the wild so is not from pet store breeding/breeders so he has the personaility of a wild betta. He has flared a few times at the female guppies but they just look at him as if to say yeah but we're safe here you can't get us!

Wow, he is a very pretty fish, i was thinking about getting a betta myself, but my neons wont like it but you one looks really pretty, me myself would like to get a totally blue one

Got to admit I would also like another one, I already have a red one which has also got a few other colours in him (don't worry they are in different tanks).
I am thinking of dividing this tank into 3, one section for bielsibub, one section for another different coloured one and the 3rd for a birthing tank. if I did this I would put the 2 bettas at each end and the birthing tank in the middle with the filter attached to the divider.
My other betta is in a community tank with gouramis, male guppies, an upside down cat fish, a cory, 2 plecs, 2 clown loaches and some mollies.
These bettas have me hooked.

I have to say the pic really does not do this beautiful fella the justice he needs. I will be spending alot of time trying to get a really good pic of him.
He is one mean looking begger though , but soooo cute with it what a personallity he has I have only had him for one and a half hours and his personallity is coming out of him already. He is a funny character and boy does he give some funny looks.

I hate to break it to you but he wasn't caught in the wild. Veil tails are not the kind of bettas you see in the wild. With those long fins he wouldn't last 5 seconds in the wild because it slows them down so much. He looks nice though.

Ok, thanks for that info. I probably misunderstood what my lfs person told me. I am not bothered whether or not he was caught in the wild really as like you say he is beautiful anyway.

zenn i dont know much about fighting fish but i have a blue one he is very quiet. i have neon tetras in my tank and he doesnt bother them. i have heard that the reds are the worst but very beautiful. kaz that is a really nice one that u have. my brother inlaw had a red fighting fish and it was viscious if thats how u spell it lol.

I have mentioned earlier in this post that I have another fighter who I keep in a community tank. This guy is also red but has a few hints of other colours in him and has blue eyes, hence the name sinatra.
Here is a pic of this baby, can you see the difference between the colours, Sinatra is a lighter red than bielsibub.
This one is Sinatra.

This one is Bielsibub

I love them both they have both got their own charactiristics and mannerisms.
Looking at the two pics side by side on this post the obvious difference between Sinatra and Bielsibub is the colour of their faces, Sinatras is white where as Bielsibub's face is red like the rest of him.

"B E E L Z E B U B" is the spelling used in the Catholic Dictionary.

He is a beautiful fish, kaz. The deepest red I've seen.
