Hi everyone, I have a superfish home 40 (40 litre) with fine gravel with a piece of sumatra wood with some java moss and a couple of moss balls, currently cycling and looking to hopefully stock it with some corys and a few neon tetras (kids love them) and chilli rasboras, is this suitable and if so how many of these fish would be maximum?

Thanks in advance

i would say that you should stalk it with just the chilli rasboras, you are able to have a larger number of them if you don't get the neons.
what i would do is heavily plant it, and convert it into a shrimp tank with the rasboras.
and if you want you can also have a beta as your center peice fish. it'll look flashy, giving something to the tank.. then the movement from the rasboras will be great, and if you go with shrimp, your ground cover/movement is tanked and there isn't need for cories.

but if you are keen on having neons, they need to be in a group of 6 minimum IMO, and then there wouldn't been much room for the rasboras if you want to get cories.
so you can have 6 neons, shrimps and a beta. but i would go with the first idea, would look great when everything is together

Neon Tetras - while they are small fish, they are active wee fishes! They need quite a bit of swimming space actually. So I would suggest that Neons are better in a larger tank than 40 litres, IMHO opinion I would see a grow of Neon Tetras in a minimum tank size of 54 litres.

Chilli Rasboras are cool little fish, I like them too

They will be fine in a 40 litre tank, best to get at least 6+ as they are a schooling fish so they do better in groups, the bigger the better!

Coradoras - one of my favourites!

I would suggest Dwarf Coradoras as they would be fine with Chillis

At least 6+ would be best, again a schooling type fish species.

I do suggest you do as much research as you can and then come up with numbers thats suitable for your tank size and post again on this thread what you'd like to do, whether to go with Chillis and Cories or Chillis and shrimps and snails or something like that.

I would suggest just to have 2 species or better yet a single species tank rather than 3 species as numbers of each species would be very low and they do not do so well when in low numbers.

Thanks for your response, the only thing im really set on is having the corys, i think they are a great fish to watch and my kids love sitting watching them, does the tank have to be heavily planted for shrimp? corys ok with them or is that too much on the bottom?

Thought id pop a pic of my tank up too while im here
