Are there any Corydoras etc. crosses? Just wondering seeing as they nearly all share vastly similar breeding habitats/habits/strategies etc. and are roughly similar in size. If so are there any you could attempt at home?

Cheers you mixed up lot :p !

There are Hybrid cories, as I had one until it killed itself in my CO2 system last year.

Hybridisation in cories is frowned upon, and not ALL cories will cross breed, even though they are the same genus as each other their genetics are to dis-similar. I couldnt tell you what species could cross. but it is possible, and imo it isnt worth it as there so many cories, cross breeding would just give you a cory that looks like another species.

Cheers, I thought as much. I was hoping to find someway of producing pure(ish) black cories, as I have seen them, but can't get hold of em for love nor money around here!

Thanks again.

All hybrids are frowned upon by people who dont like them.I personally find them facinating and to me corys would be just as interesting to cross.

Black cories arent hybrids, they are colour morphs of bronze cories, I think there is an argument about them being a seperate species like to lasers and shoulder cories.

I dont mind Hybridisation, as long as it doesnt destroy the ability to purchase "pure" breeds, as with the syno's some species are becoming herder to find due to hybrids.

I do like to RTC and TSN hybrids but it helps that I like the pure breds too.

some hybrids can produce some amazing looking fish, but with Cories they are more or less very similar.

So I guess my likes of hybrids are ones that are harder to acheive breeds and therefore 'rare'

I know what you mean, as long as people are responsible with them and dont put them into the hobby where people wont know they are hybrids.

i agree. and i especialy agree with T because hyrbrids are facinating and if we can study such unaturaly pairings we can help figure out how dominant the genes are on certain species of fish.
