hey everyone,

I used to have a ten gallon aqarium about a year and a half back, but had to get rid of it cause I moved really far away, and anyhow I plan on starting another one 20 gallon most likely and I plan to have alot of plants and have a community.

anyhow can you guys please make me a shopping list of everything I need. I dont want to not get something and cause harm to the fish later on.

oh and incase I forgot its a tropical tank not a saltwater (maybe later on when I get the hang of this I could start a reef, too much work for now)

I wanna get a 20 gallon because well, I bought about 5 of those 10 cents each goldfish (the ones they use as food.. lol) and they grew from about 2-3 centimeters to about 3-4 inches, well only two of them lived but hey. hehe

anyhow I want it to look mor exotic now so I will get colorful fish and take care of the tank better as I have done some research.

thanks for the help and the shoping list.

Tank
Stand (table if its strong enough)
Filter (external is best but for a 20 gallon you could use a fluval internal to save space)
Lights since you want plants you'll have to wait for one of the more green fingered people here to advise which type, I've just got a regular light tube and the plants are quite good but its not heavily planted
Gravel
Bogwood -if u are going to have a pl*co or ancistrus its essential also looks nice in a tank :)
Heater - 3-4 watts per gallon is sufficient
Hood - stop fish jumping out :)
Gravel Vac -> essential for water changes and to keep the nitrate level down

(and the obvious... water, time, fish)

If you want a heavily planted setup then a CO2 unit may be advisable.

Oh and welcome to the forum hope you like it here!! Feel free to post as much as you want :)

Remember the amount of time you put into your tank will be reflected by how good your tank looks :)
