Hermits In A Fowlr

Hi guys
Im having a fair bit of algea growing in my tank so i'd like to buy some hermit crabs, halloweens, red legs ect.
Though my tank has not been filled with RO water, just de-chlorinated tap water. Can hermit crabs live in this or do they need RO water. No copper based medications ect have been added to my tank.

They can live in that water - however you have probably identified why you have so much algae. Are you running a phosphate remover?

There isn't a great amount of it, just the odd bits of hair here and there.
But no im not running phosphate remover.

Hermits don't ever really touch that type of algae imo. Perhaps some emerald crabs?
