Hermit Crab Shells

A couple of my hermits have shed, does this mean they're going to start wanting bigger shells soon? Can anyone recommend somewhere to get them? I can only seem to find small ones on ebay!

Yeh it will mean they need bigger ones ASAP! I bought mine on eBay as an assorted collection. All sizes. I'll have a look for you. I have dwarfs aswell so works out well for me!

aren't you in cornwall, just go for a walk on the beach and get your own for free

be careful doing this, coastal waters / beaches aren't always as clean as they look

if you are going to collect any of the beach i would boil them for several hours before they go anywhere near your tank

Yeah I'd be a bit too worried to put shells from the beach in the tank tbh!

As @ombomb says you can but make sure you give them a very good boil!!

i have put shells into my tank from a beach, just give em a good boiling for 5mins and it'll be fine, where do you think the shells sold on ebay come from? of course its up to you but why pay for something you can get for nowt, i noticed the link says the shells are being sold from devon, rest my case. but i certainly wouldnt be paying £11 for shells, even in a seaside shell shop they are pennies each

but.. it saves me trapsing around the beach!! I used to spend hours searching for shells on the beach as a kid, and only ever came back with about 5, and they were broken flat ones!!! lol

take the kids down there and offer 10p each for any you can use lol. seriously tho i was up in whitby recently and i got some shells from a shop for a few pence each

hey there's nowt up wi northerners, and if we didn't come down there spending our cash you'd all be digging holes in the ground looking for non existant tin, and the beer down there is disgusting too
