i dont no why his fins are tatty,

tank size is 3ft,1.5ft,1.5ft 130litre

What tanks mates has he got?, you are aware he will outgrow that tank arnt you?.... he is stunning but i would be a bit woried that he's been nipped at.

i no he ll out grow the tank (thanks) my dad sed i got him like that so hope it gets better

Plenty of clean water and keep on top of water params and it should grow back pretty quick unless there is somethink actually in your tank thats nipping at him/her

Plenty of clean water and keep on top of water params and it should grow back pretty quick unless there is somethink actually in your tank thats nipping at him/her

Water parameters ..ie. ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.... just keep an eye on the barbs just incase but if you got him like this then it probably isnt them, constant nipping will stress him eventually leading to some sort of illness.

am taking the barbs out this weekend also my water params is all good ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 0 ph 7.0

All zeros for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate means a broken test kit or some form of chemical filtration is being used... You should always have a Nitrate reading of some form in a cycled tank What fitler media do you use in the filter? How old is the test kit? What test kit do you use (make and type i.e strip/liquid/tablet test)?

That is a loverly pleco that well look better still with good fins on him. As said, keep the water and tank mates good and the rest will follow untill it out-grows the tank and needs an upgrade
